Mission
The Eno River Association is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization founded in 1966 with a mission to protect the natural, cultural and historic resources of the Eno River basin in northern Durham and Orange counties.
Over 7,800 acres protected
The Association has protected over 7,800 acres of natural and working lands and has helped create six local, state, and regional nature parks, including Eno River State Park, Occoneechee Mountain State Natural Area, West Point on the Eno City Park, Penny’s Bend Nature Preserve, the Confluence Natural Area, and Little River Regional Park. The Association continues to acquire land and secure easements, as well as provide stewardship, education programs, original research, and publications.
Festival for the Eno
The Association’s largest annual outreach event is the Festival for the Eno – which has drawn tens of thousands of folks to the shaded banks of the Eno River each Independence Day weekend since 1980 with an eclectic, raucous, and immersive offering of performances, demonstrations, activities, and workshops celebrating the people and places of the Eno River.
